List of Resources

Hi all,

As the week starts, I must report that the kids are doing much better. My spirits are higher and the sun is out shinning in NY. Here is hoping for a great week :)

As for the blog assignment. I posted the list of resources from this week on the left side of the blog below the posts. Here are my three additional resources. I have found these links helpful in my career with children.

The National Association of Family Child Care

  1. Hi Angela, A place of Our Own is a nice site with lots of advice, featured videos and activities that are valuable for educators. I liked the featured Activities listed. It gives ideas to use in our own classrooms. I do kitchen with my kids at school. Do you have any suggestions for Kitchen fun?

    1. Hi Deepa, let me think... I think any activity that can be messy and edible is fun! Children love to help out and cook. I think the most important suggestion would be to have a plan or a recipe in mind. Then let the kids enjoy creating and experimenting with new flavors. I always love the individual portions lessons like mini pizzas-- an english muffin topped with pizza sauce and cheese-- or baking bread-- kneading dough and play dough are very similar!

  2. Hi Angie, glad yur kids are doing better. Thanks fr sharing that website with the eat well play hard curriculum. Childhood obesity and diabetes seem to be n the rise due to poor diet and lessened activity. I will definitely be referring to thissite very often for ideas. I remember leading a class at my church where we made a chocolate cake. Each child was responsible for executing another part of the recipe. Needless to say the entire kitchen was a mess after lol, but the kids had fun and learned the value of team work.

  3. I love that website "A Place of Our Own". I was not familiar with the site. I definintely think that I may use it at work. Thank you for sharing. I think that some of these ideas are beneficial.

One of my favorite activities to do with the young children in our program is "table painting". The children use paint directly placed on the table, and smear it around, draw letters, etc. Then we take construction paper and lay it on top of the paint and it makes awesome looking prints.
